Asking for Help
A theme that has been coming up in my circles is asking for help.
The quick conclusion:
Many of us aren't particularly good at it.
I blame my own hesitancy to ask for help on coming from a family of amazingly capable do-it-yourself-ers.
Growing up, whatever the task or challenge, it seemed that my parents could figure it out —whether it was untangling a kite from a tree; making the best monster cookie or quiche lorraine; fixing a leaky toilet; or performing CPR for a stranger in distress on the sidewalk.
There are many gifts to being a self-identified independent, self-reliant person.
Asking for help typically isn't one of them.
