HONORING THE STORIES WE CARRY WITHIN

HONORING THE STORIES WE CARRY WITHIN image

Beneath the surface, we carry the experiences of our lifetimes. Our baggage, our joy, our heartache, our disappointed dreams, our successes and celebrations, the memories of the past that come flooding back with a sight or a sound or a smell or a song.

We carry these things behind a casual "hello," and our answers of "fine thanks, how are you?"

What if we all acted with more compassion for the humans we interact with, knowing that there's always an untold story that we do not know? The person who triggers us in the meeting, the driver who cuts us off, the person who doesn't return our email, the server who forgets about our table and never comes back to refill our coffee. All of these people have their stories beneath the surface, too.

What can it look like to remember this - even in the toughest times and the most triggering moments?
