INCLUSION AND BELONGING UPDATE FOR JULY

INCLUSION AND BELONGING UPDATE FOR JULY image

I hope that your August is off to a good start and that you’re continuing to enjoy these precious summer months.

This is our August update on what we’ve been up to in the realm of inclusion and belonging on the Zing Collaborative team.

  • Emily has been continuing her Witnessing Whiteness program, and the two of us have been catching up on content and key take-aways during our weekly touch-bases. A few things that stood out from July were this Implicit Bias test from Harvard, this TED Talk by Verna Myers, and this article on the way that pandemics activate xenophobia.

  • I have been continuing my DEI for HBB mastermind (Diversity Equity and Inclusion for Heart Based Business) - which has evolved into an incredible space for rich discussions related not only to DEI but business, life, and the ways that these different things all intersect. It’s been an incredibly life-giving and nourishing space for which I am immensely grateful!

  • Both of us are continuing to read, learn, and engage in discussion related to inclusion in belonging in our families, work, and life. Emily has been having some amazing discussions with her kiddos on the topic.

  • I updated some of the photography on the website to better reflect the make-up of the Zing Collaborative Community. This was something that had been on my mind for awhile and felt important to take action on.

Overall, we’ve been having some great conversations and engaging in a variety of learning and exploration. Something I’m particularly appreciative of, both on our team, and in several circles I’m part of, is the mix of exploration, learning, discernment, and thoughtful processing - where we can not only take in the information that’s available right now, but let it simmer and process so that we can continue to uncover our own truth.

Thanks for reading - and, as always, if there are resources that you’re finding particularly helpful in this time, I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to drop me a note via the Connect page at any time!

Warmly,

Sarah
