It’s likely not too late

A Story about Nancy

During a break from recording the audio book for Expansive Impact, I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy . . .

Nancy recently opened a boutique downtown.

Nancy knows the story behind each item she carries in the shop,

She knows all sorts of details about the makers behind them,

She knows exactly how the necklaces she carries in the store are supposed to be positioned around your neck,

And she knows how each item fits ("those pants run large; those shirts run small; these joggers run long in length.") She rattles off these details from memory, with ease.

Nancy briefly tried out retirement
But she decided that it wasn't for her.

So instead, she renovated a space downtown,
Had the ceilings redone and big chandeliers hung throughout the space,

And opened up a boutique.

She named it Outrageous . . . because she wanted it to capture her personality.

She often works the register and tends to the store herself. She has a couple of part-time employees.

Nancy will turn 91 next month. She started the boutique this past fall, at the age of 90.

Meeting Nancy was a powerful reminder that it's likely not too late. . .

There is still time

To open the boutique,
To start the business,
To have the conversation,
To make amends,
To reach out,
To reconnect,
To create the things we wish existed.

For a little bit of inspiration, you may enjoy this brief interview with Nancy.
