RESOURCES FOR (SUDDEN) HOME SCHOOLING (OR, JUST BEING AT HOME ALL DAY WITH YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY IN ONE SPACE)
Did you know that the rest of the Zing Collaborative team is made up of educators?
As a result, we decided to put together some resources for those of you who suddenly have your kiddos at home.
*By we, I mean mostly Anna and Emily. Anna and Emily are both mothers, and former teachers, and are very much experts on this topic!
We hope that you find these resources helpful. If there are others that you love, feel free to send them our way and we’ll add them to the list.
Other Goose - home schooling resource that values play, freedom, and structure. Erin (the founder) is offering this free for three weeks.
Filament Games - educational video games for kids.
Jarrett Lerner - cute, creative, free, printable worksheets and comics for kids.

Scholastic Learn at Home - Separated into grade ranges from PreK - 6+, Scholastic has created lesson plans using fiction and non-fiction resources spanning Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Five days are posted with fifteen more to come!
Ranger Rick - Who doesn’t love learning about animals? Keep your kiddos reading with a free digital subscription to Ranger Rick!
Kids Activities Blog - This is a list of the educational companies offering free subscriptions while schools are closed.
Easy Teacher Worksheets Online, free worksheets.
Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems - Join the author/illustrator for daily doodle sessions!
Lego Challenge - A calendar of daily lego builds for kids of all ages but realistically 3+.
Character Strong - Social Emotional learning for kids K- 12.

Bravery School - Bravery Magazine features brave women with activities and stories. They are offering 4 weeks of Bravery school to try out for all ages and genders.
Science fun - Several science experiments for kids with materials you likely already have.
Garden - Buy seeds, start them inside, count each day how many have sprouted, at day 5 start to measure one plant and see how tall it gets each day. When it warms up, head outside and plant them!
Neighborhood “hunt” - create (draw, paint, cut out) eggs or spring flowers, and stick them to windows and doors. Go for a “distanced egg and flower hunt” while taking walks in the neighborhood. (credit: wm neighborhood association)
Signs - make signs of hope and optimism and stick them on the windows or in the front yard.
Distanced birthday greetings - have neighbors walk or drive by and wave during a certain time window, for kiddos who are suddenly celebrating their birthdays from a distance. (credit: Kate)
Do Art - Austin Kleon has a great round-up of tips and favorite art supplies for kids here. Invitation: please, please please consider buying local if you can. Austin links to Amazon, but it is more important than ever that we support local businesses. Many local book stores are doing online ordering with either pick-up, or doorstep delivery options. Local art stores have an option for online orders with no-contact pick-up. It’s a hard time to be a small business owner.
