JANUARY READING LIST
January was filled with good books. Here’s a quick overview of this month’s fiction list, with favorites at the top.
favorite FICTION
The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson
This book was recommended to me by several friends, after I shared how much I loved The Giver of Stars by JoJo Moyes. The Giver of Stars was beautiful and flowing. The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek was well-researched and powerful. Both were excellent (but very different, despite being about loosely the same subject matter).
Mrs Everything by Jennifer Weiner
I tore through this book in a few days. Excellent character development and a compelling storyline. As she often does, Jennifer Weiner threw me for a loop with two big curveballs —one thematic, and one specific.
Me Before You by JoJo Moyes
This book was beautiful and devastating, leaving me to sob at the kitchen counter for a good fifteen minutes. JoJo is an exquisite writer, and she did it again with this book.
QUICK READS
LA Weather by Maria Amparo Escandon
This book is very “California,” in terms of the characters, the plot line, and the conversations. A quick read.
Must Love Books by Shauna Robinson
The main character was a bit challenging for me at times, but I warmed up to her in the end. Another quick read.
